Faculty Positions

The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science, is currently accepting applications for one non-tenure track teaching faculty positions.  This position will be at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and experience.  We seek outstanding applicants interested in either full or part-time teaching within our entry-level DPT curriculum.  A physical therapy license or Maryland eligibility for PT licensure, and a professional doctoral degree are required.  Doctorally-trained clinicians with physical therapy teaching experience and expertise in orthopedics, acute care, or geriatrics should apply.

 

We are located in Baltimore on the professional campus of the University of Maryland System.  The Department offers degrees for entry-level DPT, and PhD in Physical Rehabilitation Science (http://pt.umaryland.edu).  The campus is within easy walking distance of Baltimore’s world famous Inner Harbor, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Baltimore Ravens), and the newly renovated Hippodrome Theatre.  It is also located within an hour drive of Washington, DC and is 30 minutes from Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport.  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

Postdoctoral Position ‑ Motor Control and Rehabilitation of Human Balance

University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD

 

A postdoctoral position in motor control and rehabilitation is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr.Mark Rogers at the University of Maryland Baltimore, School of Medicine. The successful applicant will participate in NIH funded research that examines the neuromechanical control of posture and balance in older adults at risk for falls and will contribute to the development of novel interventions for improving balance control and preventing falls. Opportunities exist to for collaborative research with a large concentration of researchers in physical therapy, gerontology, neurology, epidemiology, motor control, neuroscience, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and engineering,

 

The preferred applicant will have a recent doctoral degree, experience in working with clinical populations, and research experience in motor control, neurophysiology, biomechanics, or bioengineering. Experience with electromyography, motion analysis, force platforms, and MatLab and/or LabView programming skills is preferred.
