An investiture ceremony was held March 2, 2010 in Westminster Hall to award Stephen Bartlett, MD, professor and chair, Department of Surgery, the first Peter Angelos Distinguished Professorship in Surgery. Mr. Angelos is a well-known local lawyer as well as Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Baltimore Orioles. He is also a member of the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Board of Visitors.

Angelos was proud to sponsor Dr. Bartlett. “I’m here to acknowledge the great record of my good friend Steve and the contributions he has made to this institution,” said Angelos. “Truthfully, he’s just at the midpoint, I think. There are many more great things to come from this very fine doctor. We all respect Steve for his contributions, both medically and to the community at large, and it is my privilege and honor to have this chance to salute him.”
